Nobody likes drastic changes to something that they're used to. When you've got a good thing, keep it the way it is. Dick Wolf has learned his lesson I'm sure. Williams, a divorced cop, and Eddie Torres, a Puerto Rican struggling with his heritage, balance work with the demands of their personal lives. I think fans only watched the very FIRST episode of the last season because they wanted to know if in fact Torres' character was really dead. And who were these other rejects? Even Lt. New York Undercover Filmed on location in New York, NYU is a show about a squad of young urban detectives, J.C. Barker looked more like a pimp than a cop. Not only did they kill off Torres and Macnamara, but they killed the spirit of the show. You can't kill off one of the lead characters and expect to have a chance at good ratings. Viewers were used to seeing Torres and Williams. Dick Wolf should have seen disaster on the rise. I agree with the person who stated that this show could have survived at least two or three more seasons had they kept the Eddie Torres character. I thought for sure that the season after Macnamara was introduced, that it would get better just as the show always seemed to do at the start of every new season. The next thing I know, New York Undercover just went down hill due to the killing off of the characters Torres and Macnamara. He was best friends with Torres, father to G, and a lover of the ladies. I became a New York Undercover addict! I even enjoyed the episodes in which they brought in Detective Macnamara, played by Jonathan LaPaglia. Yoba was the very fine, very smooth and very smart Det. This is a complete list of episodes of the American police drama New York Undercover, which originally aired on the Fox network from September 8, 1994. The next season they added the beautiful Lauren Velez, and I think it was then that the show took off. When I saw the first season, I was somewhat iffy about where it was going.

The requirements for this vary by country, but require more training than driving a passenger automobile. In the United States, intercity bus drivers are required to hold a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with P endorsement. This documents they are compliant with the country's laws regarding the maximum number of hours they are permitted to drive. Some countries require intercity bus drivers to fill out logs detailing the hours they have driven. Drivers must be able to engage in basic communication with passengers and to give them directions and other information they may need. The author name for the plant classification - “Michx.” is for Andre Michaux (1746-1802), French botanist who made many exploring expeditions in the U.S. The family name of Buttercup, used to be "Crowfoot', hence the continuation of the old name in many of the other buttercup species common names. The variety name, nitidus, is from the Latin word niteō, meaning 'to shine'. The species, hispidus, means 'with fine hair'. The generic name Ranunculus, is from two Latin words, 'rana' meaning ' frog' and 'unculus' meaning 'little' and together they refer to a group of plants, many of which grow in moist places - like little frogs. The inflorescence consists of solitary flowers, rising from the upper leaf axils, that are very conspicuous over the dark green leaves. It is a fork of an old plugin called Sage. The extension does not require registration, or has ads or other annoyances. Sage-Like is not an open source extension, its support page is hosted at the Mozilla forums. The add-on's options page has an import and export tool, that is handy for backing up or loading an OPML file, in case you're moving from a different RSS Feed program. The feeds are synchronized across devices using Firefox sync. Define how often the extension should refresh the feeds in the background, it does so every hour by default. You can customize the colors and font used by Sage-Like, from the add-on's options. I particularly like the option that opens all unread articles in new tabs with a single-click. Sage-Like has a separate context menu for feeds and folders, using which you can mark an entire tree as read or unread, open a selected feed in a different tab or window. Search through the feeds using the filter option at the top of the bar. Drag and drop a feed over another to move it, this also works for moving feeds from one folder to another. This is helpful in organizing the sites that you've subscribed to. Let's get back to Sage-Like's sidebar, right-click anywhere, and select New Folder to create a new directory. You can change the behavior from the add-on's options, to make it open in a new tab. Left-clicking an article's title will load it in the same tab. The preview pane uses the browser's right-click menu, so you can use it to open links and perform other actions. The pop-up lists all articles in the feed, click on it to jump to the relevant post. Click the menu button in the top left corner of the fee preview, this brings the feed's jump list. Sage-Like renders the content as the RSS feed allows it, some sites allow the full article, while others only display a summary. You may access a feed in a new tab instead, sans the sidebar. The posts from the selected feed are displayed on the right-pane of the tab, this is the feed preview. Mouse over a heading in the pane, to preview a portion of the post. Select a feed and the posts in it will be listed on the bottom half of the side panel. This tool is sort of like a refresh button to detect the RSS feed subscription on the website.īack on the sidebar, hit the first key on the toolbar to refresh the feeds, this forces the extension to fetch the latest articles from the site. If the add feed button doesn't appear in the address bar, open Sage-Like and hit the Discover feeds option, it's the one with the magnifying glass icon. There's a simpler way to add feeds, visit a website that has an RSS feed, the add-on will detect it and place a button in the address bar, click it and then on the Add to Sage-Like button, and your new feed is ready. Click the save button to finish the process. Paste the URL of the RSS feed in the location box, optionally give it a name or let the add-on detect it automatically. The extension has its own right-click menu, use it and select New Feed. You may delete these and start from scratch. Sage-Like comes with a few categories and feeds out of the box. Click the plugin's button to collapse or view the GUI. The extension's interface opens in the browser's sidebar. The add-on requires several permissions to function, but its description explains what each permission is required for. Strike-Slip Faultsįaults where the motion is mostly horizontal and along the “strike” or the length of the fault are called strike-slip faults (Figure 13.26 bottom). Reverse faults shorten and thicken the crust (Figure 13.25, right). Compression produces reverse faults, pushing the hanging wall up relative to the footwall. This permits the hanging wall to slide down the footwall in response to gravity (Figure 13.25, left). Tension produces normal faults, in which the crust undergoes extension. Figure 13.24 The hanging wall (or headwall) of a fault is the rock above the fault. These terms were originally used by miners to describe the rocks above and below an ore body (Figure 13.24). In dip-slip faults we identify rock above the fault as the hanging wall, (or headwall) and the rock beneath as the footwall. Dip-Slip Faultsĭip-slip faults are so named because the dominant motion involves moving up or down the dipping (tilting) fault plane. We describe faults in terms of how the rocks on one side of the fault move relative to the other. Figure 13.23 View looking down on a fault (white dashed line) in intrusive rocks on Quadra Island, British Columbia. The pink dyke has been offset approximately 10 cm by the fault (length of the white arrow). This could be the edge of a bed or dike as in Figure 13.23, or it could be a landscape feature, such as a fence or a stream. Other faults show only centimetres of movement. In order to estimate the amount of motion on a fault, it is necessary to find a feature that shows up on both sides of the fault, and has been offset by the fault. Some large faults, like the San Andreas fault in California or the Tintina fault, extending from northern British Columbia through central Yukon and into Alaska, show evidence of hundreds of kilometres of motion. Exfoliation joints, which make the rock appear to be flaking off in sheets (Figure 13.20), occur when a body of rock expands in response to reduced pressure, such as when overlying rocks have been removed by erosion. It can also be from a body of rock expanding. The tension can be from a rock contracting, such as during the cooling of volcanic rock (Figure 13.9, upper left). Most joints form when the overall stress regime is one of tension (pulling apart) rather than compression. Joints with a common orientation make up a joint set (Figure 13.19). If there is no movement of one side relative to the other, and if there are many other fractures with the same orientation, then the fractures are called joints. If rocks on one side of the break shift relative to rocks on the other side, then the fracture is a fault. When rocks break in response to stress, the resulting break is called a fracture. South Asia will contract by 2.7%, Sub-Saharan Africa by 2.8%, Middle East and North Africa by 4.2%, Europe and Central Asia by 4.7%, and Latin America by 7.2%. East Asia and the Pacific will grow by a scant 0.5%. This would represent the weakest showing by this group of economies in at least sixty years.Įvery region is subject to substantial growth downgrades. That weakness will spill over to the outlook for emerging market and developing economies, who are forecast to contract by 2.5 percent as they cope with their own domestic outbreaks of the virus. Advanced economies are projected to shrink 7 percent. The pandemic is expected to plunge most countries into recession in 2020, with per capita income contracting in the largest fraction of countries globally since 1870. Historic contraction of per capita income For emerging market and developing countries, many of which face daunting vulnerabilities, it is critical to strengthen public health systems, address the challenges posed by informality, and implement reforms that will support strong and sustainable growth once the health crisis abates. The crisis highlights the need for urgent action to cushion the pandemic’s health and economic consequences, protect vulnerable populations, and set the stage for a lasting recovery. Over the longer horizon, the deep recessions triggered by the pandemic are expected to leave lasting scars through lower investment, an erosion of human capital through lost work and schooling, and fragmentation of global trade and supply linkages. The baseline forecast envisions a 5.2 percent contraction in global GDP in 2020, using market exchange rate weights-the deepest global recession in decades, despite the extraordinary efforts of governments to counter the downturn with fiscal and monetary policy support. The June 2020 Global Economic Prospects describes both the immediate and near-term outlook for the impact of the pandemic and the long-term damage it has dealt to prospects for growth. As the health and human toll grows, the economic damage is already evident and represents the largest economic shock the world has experienced in decades. The COVID-19 pandemic has spread with alarming speed, infecting millions and bringing economic activity to a near-standstill as countries imposed tight restrictions on movement to halt the spread of the virus.
